As soon as the video was posted, our site traffic went up ~300%!  We got a call from the local NBC station and just taped a segment for the evening news.  The story got picked up by Autoblog!  Everything is looking up and up for Prong Motors.

Big thanks to Mr. Leno and the team down there at NBC.  You guys are a big part of the future success of Prong Motors!

I'm dead tired but so excited from this weekend. Jay's Garage was a pretty successful shoot, though I'm not sure what parts will make the final cut.  Jay said the Prong was fun, but he felt the steering was too heavy and the traction control and vehicle stability systems were overly intrusive.  The good news is since it is a prototype, he'll expect us to fix the issues and he's looking forward to driving it again when we do.  So another trip to Jay's Garage is in our near future.  This episode we shot yesterday should be on the site in 2-3 weeks.

The other great story is that I meet Townsend Bell at the shoot on Saturday and he recognized the parts as being from a Can Am Spyder.  Well, he was shooting a show for Speed TV about the Spyder and asked if we wanted to bring our Prong down to show everyone.  Hells yeah!  I drove the car down to the Rock Store on Mulholland Sunday morning and pulled in to a parking lot full of bikes and a TV crew.  They were excited to see the Prong!  I got some good photos and a little behind the scenes video of Tommy Kendall on the Spyder.  Unfortunately he couldn't drive our car because he broke his foot last week.  Townsend was called to step in for him so we did some driving shots together.  The show airs on Saturday (the 15th) at 9:30pm ET. Anyone get Speed?  Please set your DVR!

The last bit of good news is we've got two potential sales!  One was a customer at Autobooks whom Tina (the owner) asked if I would give a ride to. Turns out he is a collector and has more cars than Jay does!  He loved the way the Prong drove and he said his daughter would likely love it too.  The other potential customer approached me at the gas station while I was filling up the tow vehicle.  He had originally wanted to buy a VW GX3, but they never made it.  He said he's just been waiting for someone to make it, and we did!

I almost forgot.  I was driving back from the Rock Store and got a call from Alex Earle.  I didn't know the name either, but he was the lead designer on the VW GX3 concept!  He is friends with Townsend and he had driven down to the Rock Store to see our vehicle. Unfortunately I couldn't go back to meet him, but he said he would be glad to show us the original concept car.  It is still stored at VW Design in Santa Monica.  That's gotta make for a pretty awesome photo op right?!

I'll stop before this gets too long, but I did want to thank everyone reading this.  Leno kept talking about "one man's vision" since that's his shtick but Prong Motors would not be possible without all of you.  My sincerest thanks for making the dream come true.  Now the reward for all our hard work is... more hard work!

-Hong]]>Thu, 01 Apr 2010 07:47:04 -0800http://www.prongmotors.com/1/post/2010/04/addco-rocks.htmlWe're working with a few manufacturer partners and I must say that John at Addco is the best!  We called them last week to see if we could get a custom swaybar made for our prototype.  Not only did they build one for us to spec right away, they overnighted it to us in California to make sure we had time to install and test it before the big show.  Awesome!

Still awaiting a few other parts in the mail today but we should be ready to go for the Big Dog in two days.

]]>Wed, 17 Mar 2010 00:00:32 -0800http://www.prongmotors.com/1/post/2010/03/the-poor-girl-needs-a-bit-of-color.htmlBorrowed a big ole Econoline this morning to transport our body panels and fenders to the paint shop.  Franklin Autobody is all the way up in San Francisco but well worth the drive for the quality of work they put into every paint job.  We're going with a blue and white paint scheme, similar to the colors of the rendering.  I guess seeing it 'painted' that way for months makes it hard to imagine the Prong in any other color.

I look forward to the day we deliver the Prongs in a rainbow assortment of colors.  I want every single one to be unique and reflect the personality of our Clients.
